I am a self taught programmer, and I am now director of engineering at a tech startup. I think CS has its place, but just like music, some of the best musicians and producers have not studied music theory formally. There is not a day that goes by that I am not learning something new about programming or technology (which should also be true of CS majors), so keep that in mind, learning doesn't end at graduation.
