I think we're making the same point. I don't consider niche software that deliver's value and nails one aspect of delivery to be mediocre at all. That's great software.

The analogy was Italian food. That's a huge market. Picking a huge market would be a critical mistake if your goal is to be a small bootstrapped SaaS company.
