compiled html is not compiled web app. the java vm, activeX, those things are not open and can hardly be expanded, so they're not going to be standard or be federated.

also, http relies on tcp, so it will always be synchronous, there is hardly going back and forth between the client and server. ajax is not something easy to deploy.
