This increased the numbers of systems that could breakdown whilst simultaneously reducing the number of crew members on hand to fix any problems (not just the autoloader but now there is one less person to fix tracks/service the engine etc)

One problem with the auto-loaders on the Soviet tanks was that they often loaded a gunner's arm, and closed the breech.
