Don't we tend to discuss a lot about semantics and words?

Most of the cases we have words that mean basically the same, and we almost randomly say, more or less, that X means "a good Y".

Agreed! I liked the OP, even though it was quite guilty of this. But what is it about programmers (hackers/coders/developers/whatever it's called in your idiolect) that makes us so pointlessly passionate about diction?
