Right, suggestions on how to teach it, when most of the audience doesn't have a technical background...

As for "How to setup your own website", I think that shouldn't be the first thing, but close to the first thing. I think making simple HTML pages (and maybe a tiny bit of CSS) would be better first.

Also, I don't know if Binghamton has hosting for students, but some colleges do. It might be worth asking, even if it's not generally available, you have a sizable number of students, and you're doing something the University might like and think looks nice publicly.
