Why do you think the comparison to McCarthyism is incorrect or inappropriate, let alone laughable? Please note that OP didn't say that Apple's blacklist makes it just as bad as HUAC or Uncle Joe.
Of course the author himself notes that a direct comparison is absurd, and that the examples from the Red Scare are illustrative of the purpose and historical context for blacklist.
