The ipad mini is an 8" tablet. Its touch targets are the same as an iphone's. And Steve Jobs was never averse to changing his mind.

I think you're trying to provide a counter example of His correctness, but an iPad Mini is 7.9 inches => 8 inches, which isn't 7 inches at all.
