I remember when Guy Kawasaki started with twitter ("god help me, I am on Twitter" or something like that - he had no idea, like nobody else had). Now he has 125,431 followers and apparently the ability to "kawaski" a site (as I learned from tweetingtoohard).
I think with > 100000 it really becomes a different game. A friend of mine would buy any CD that Veronica Belmont recommends in her Twitter stream. She has > 600000 followers. That is an economic factor.
