Welcome to ageism. Human beings, including technology people, have great difficult accepting good ideas from young people. I suspect it is because we like to hear stories about how something affect something else. For example, one development shop I was at decided to use Hibernate and we spent the next six months fighting performance problems. I'll never make that choice again!
That's not a real story, but I'm sure you've heard it before. Or the converse. Or some mix in between. Not really scientific how we base decisions on someone else's experiences.
