I'm not asian, but I have a number of asian friends. In fact, my first cofounder and my current cofounder are both from Hong Kong.
I think the "stable" pressure is present in Europe too. It's not just an asian thing. I'd argue that asians actually have it easier than europeans, because at least asia (well, China in any case) has a strong tradition of commerce and entrepreneurialism. In fact, I think that if it wasn't for my asian friends, I probably would have stuck with the normal, thing, to get a steady, stable career...
