I'm not sure if he still uses it, but when I met him some years ago, Thad Starner (http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~thad/) had a chording keyboard hooked up to a HUD emacs.
I remember thinking at the time that it was a very "MIT" take on Ubicomp, a community that is otherwise pretty strongly infused with an Apple-esque "intuitive interface" ethos.
