I did agree much with that the article said, and i've been leaning towards a more minimalistic approach recently. A nice font, some decent shadow, and maybe a gradient with a border.

That being said, I'm a strong believer of "you want a design? Code it"

It's not enough being able to sling it on photoshop, you have to learn the code to make it happen.
