Hopefully AfD implements their good ideas (like more direct democracy, lower taxes, less benefits, locking up criminals, deporting illegal migrants) and won't get to implement their radical ideas.
Why do you hope that? The AfD supporters already chant Sieg Heil at meetings.
They could have removed their "radical" (code for: neo-nazi) ideas months ago and they could have got more votes and/or a coalition to implement their "good" ideas. Instead they doubled down on them even though it sabotages their "good" ideas. Why do you think it is?
I hope for that because there is little left.
I am not surprised people vote for the only party that promises to solve the problems they care about. I am disappointed the rest of the political spectrum plays some kind of game or puts their hand in the sand so the only option left for many people is something like AfD. What is especially surprising to me is that it's obvious from talking to normal working people what are the issues they care about and yet most politicians don't even acknowledge it.

I think they realize anyone who thinks illegal immigration is the most important issue (a lot of people) will vote or them anyway so they double down on craziness to mobilize the voters. Their strategy works pretty well but they are playing on easy mode because the rest of the political spectrum is tone deaf. I guess their leaders don't even talk to normal working people.
With the argument that their religion was incompatible with European society...
And what proof do you have that if the normal parties did "take care" of getting rid of immigrants, people would stop voting AfD? Because every conservative party I have seen trying to adopt the far-right's points have just ended boosting the far right even more. Nobody want the copy when they could have the original.
>In 1933 the main problem for people was the Jews. Should the mainstream parties have "solved" the "Jewish problem" in place of the Nazis?
Jews were citizens and residents, part of the society. Illegal immigrants are not and the society has a say in legal migration policy. People don't want illegal immigration at all and they want to limit legal migration, especially from Islamic countries.

Any ruling parties that continue to let illegal migrants in big numbers already lost any credibility. People are not that dumb. They want the issue solved and they know current main stream parties won't do that.
If you are in power and you are not doing anything about the issue you will naturally boost far right because people hope far right will actually do something.
hhhhhhhhh
One problem with "we only want the illegal or 'imcompatible' ones to leave the country" is that right-winged people tend to get extremer sooner or later. Other people will make them believe into more and more crude theories (like white people being more valuable than people of color) which leads to even more extreme actions (like murder). Hence, we have to say "no" to right-wing ideas as early as possible.

Yeah it's a problem.
That's why I am very bitter about mainstream politicians. Instead of solving the issue at hand they chose to let far right get into power.

Having selection process for people who get into your country and deporting people who get around it is not a right wing idea. Same goes for punishing criminals instead of being more and more lenient towards thieves and thugs.
Those are common sense ideas that reasonable people from all sies of political spectrum agree on. Seeing how mainstream parties ignore them and the only people willing to talk about there are far right politicians is very disheartening.

I am not inventing the term BTW, it was a major topic of the interwar period:

As I said, the far-right usually do not stop there.
