I mean, it makes sense. Sure $50/hour seems like a lot of money for a position that traditionally doesn't pay much, but Phong is also being selective. He wants somebody who's going to stay in the position, but they also need to wash faster than he can, which probably rules out most of the people who apply. The money is the incentive for highly-qualified people to apply.
