American right wing propaganda loves to describe anybody who opposes them as "far left", but Democrats are a barely-left-of-center party. To such a degree that the actual left calls them indistinguishable from the right, and refuses to vote for them.

DEI is a huge cultural shift everywhere from companies to higher education. I don't think the far left is marginalized at all. They have also gained sizable influence over the democrats.
