Comment on Apple's Phil Schiller Steps Down from Running App Store, Product Events

Comments

Well, hopefully something changes in the App Store space. It's quite unusable for discovery, there's no ability to filter apps for free/pay once/no iAP/no recurring subscriptions/no adverts.

The lack of filters combined with allowing slop means for example, it's impossible to find a paint by numbers app because when you search in the app store, it's 100+ clones that all charge $5 weekly OR have the most obnoxious adverts imaginable making it unplayable for people who aren't very technical. I'd have paid a straight $10 or $15 depending on the app, but if there is one with a single payment it's impossible to find.

Combined, the app store is unusable unless you already know exactly what app you want to install.
