Sure, but saying "it's just standard practice" kind of lets them off the hook for practices that they'd change in an instant if it cost them any money whatsoever. This is one of those practices. It might be a standard practice, but it's not a legal requirement. They could do something different. If Trump had renamed it to "Lake Lenin" or "Lake Karl Marx" they probably would have changed their standard practice. They choose not to in this case. I think questioning it and complaining is OK.
I really doubt they would have changed their policy for either of those lol. It's easiest to go along with whoever is in charge - they aren't in the business of overtly challenging the political order - they have lobbyists for that
