Comment on Everyday household tasks impact relationships

Comments

“ women still take on most of the work involved in running a household” is in no way a sensible conclusion to draw from “women report taking 25% more”. What do the men report? I’d be shocked if the general pattern was anything other than “everyone feels like they’re doing more than their fair share.”

To be fair, the study does acknowledge that problem:

The findings indicate that 2 people in the same relationship may experience and interpret the division of household responsibilities very differently, and these differences matter for relationship quality

Cognitive load is very subjective, and I would guess the biggest problem there us that women tend to be in charge of households - you cannot have the power without the responsibility.
