Another note about steam engines, they were often run well above their safe pressure levels to produce more output ower, along with having safety features disabled so they wouldn't stop running, meaning stop making money. There's a rather scary YT video somewhere that goes into the details. So they weren't inherently as dangerous as records show, they were just run in a very dangerous and unsafe manner by their operators in order to maximise profit.
The YT channel is Iron and Memory, on the one hand interesting, OTOH heavily AI-slopped because an individual couldn't produce something on that scale without AI doing most of the work.
