I think sometimes¹ it helps to hang out with the group and just talk, or drill down into something or just free-associate. It is anti-isolation

I agree with all of that!

I'm not even against going on-prem to work at an office

I'm against trying to work in a noisy open office full of distractions and people demanding your attention without so much as a cubicle wall between you and your neighbor
