I've got a 5+ year old Oppo that has about the same feature set as the last five generations of flagship Samsung phones at about a quarter the price, if you exclude the pointless bling features that only exist to make you feel you need to upgrade. More or less the same model is still on sale today.. no, let me correctly that, literally the same phone is still in sale today. The only reason to upgrade is that eventually the USB-C connectors wear out from being plugged in every day for charging.

So many bells/whistles/gimmicks that no one asked for. Cynic in me figures product managers just want something shiny to show for the promotion.
But for real, I can't tell the difference much between a 17pro's image output vs a 16's (or 15's). Phones have plateaued.
