A few years ago I was talking to my aunt, a restaurant owner. I found out she wasn’t paying the tipped minimum wage for her area, but the non-tipped wage even though they did tips. I was complementing her on doing this, as it’s a good precedent to set and whatnot. Quickly realized the reason she was doing that was that she didn’t know there was a lower potential wage for tipped employees, so I quickly shut up and changed the subject, and didn’t accidentally screw over her employees.
Tips should become less of a thing and tipped wage should go away.
