I am building something of my own as well. Though some people are calling my idea useless, others are saying its worth it. I have finally decided even if no-one uses it I will pursue it and complete it no matter what.

I believe building your own thing not only teach you technically, but you also make valuable connections, and other non-technical skills.

I am really motivated after reading your post. I hope one day I can get paying customers too :)
