FWIW, I've made comments on here and other social media that got high scores that later turned out to be wrong, and comments on here and other social media that got low scores (many downvotes), which later turned out to be correct (and provably/objectively/unambiguously so).

Popularity doesn't mean much, if anything. Don't worry about 'internet points'. Just chat and exchange ideas.

(note: I've heard some folks use extensions or tamper monkey scripts to remove visibility of likes/upvotes/downvotes, so they aren't unduly influenced by 'internet points', enabling them to focus solely on discourse).
