Why did manufacturers decide electronic hidden handles were a good idea?

What about those dumb hidden touch control buttons that open doors?

How is anyone suppose to help you get out if they don't know how to open the door from the outside?

Car manufacturers are truly mindless copycats sometimes. Nothing explains the stupid decisions to have all touch buttons inside the car and hidden door opening mechamisms.
