Generally higher pay is better. It comes with more dignity and better treatment. As an extreme I tried volunteering and they didn’t value our time at all and didn’t even provide enough resources for everyone to work so half the people were waiting around.

I’d actually prefer a 500K per year job with 450 going to charity than an 80k job.
