Comment on Daniel Dennett: 'Why civilisation is more fragile than we realised'

Comments

I’m far more concerned about the old dangers than the new ones.

This is a thought terminating cliche.

At the start of WWII almost everyone was worried about the old dangers and hiding behind battle lines on a map, only to be flattened by high speed mechanized warfare.

The old dangers never go away, we just keep upping the ante by adding new dangers on top of it.

It is also a thought catalyzing statement, or could be at least...it is in no small part a function of culture and school curriculum.

there's nothing new under the sun

In some way you have a point
