Comment on Mona: Australian art museum sued over women's-only exhibit

Comments

The exhibit is an incredibly fun idea and does exactly what Art should do, but the court case proceedings described in the article are just as wonderful. It's filled with quotes and anecdotes that all fit very well in the hacker-ethos.

This whole charade is completely in character for Mona.

David Walsh has made something really awesome there.

The museum agrees the exhibit does indeed discriminate. But it argued that Mr Lau hasn't missed out on anything - he experienced the artwork exactly as intended.
Gold.

For a true 1960s Australian Pub experience they need to not only segregate the sexes but have a small window to the outside through which not whites are served.

New South Wales resident Jason Lau has complained that the museum, known as Mona, is engaging in illegal discrimination.
You have to wonder if he's a plant.
