The Linux sequence of clone plus exec is yet more orthogonal, since even more fine-grained building blocks are available. As a general rule,
having a small number of orthogonal elements that can be combined in many ways
leads to a small, simple, and elegant system.

That book is decades old. New editions rarely change this type of fluff.
