I think schools in the U.S. should be better given how much we are paying for them, but the "ruins kids" assertion is quite exaggerated. During covid we experimented with closing schools and offering virtual schooling, and test scores for core subjects such as reading and math fell substantially.
I do think fewer students ought to be enrolled in academic high schools.
Yeah, the author is trying really hard to write a controversial article, but most of his conclusions are way off base. Certainly doesn't correspond to my school experience.
