Calling these speculative things laws drives me bonkers and muddies public understanding, as the public thinks of laws as settled and inviolate, and that theories are speculative -- while that's not accurate in scientific usage, I really think more thought has to be given to harmonizing language, because this situation is eroding trust in science.
