I'm looking for a new job, and a 3rd party recruiter focused on startups asked me to follow a template that "lands well with startups". FWIW, my resume has been doing fine with Big Co's so I thought it wasn't worthwhile advice.
Ah, I see. I don't know about your resume or whether it really needs changing, but it's quite common for 3rd party recruiters to want all of their recruits to use a "house style" resume format. Usually, in my experience, they'll take your resume and reformat it themselves rather than have you do it.
I wouldn't take their formatting preferences as an indication that their format is better. They just want it to be standardized with their others.
