Sense of urgency is quite missing - this isn't "looming", it's been happening since the 80s and 90s (since we picked all the low hanging fruit for new antibiotics). We really needed to get on top of this 40 years ago, there already exist many pathogens resistant to basically every antibiotic we have.

Article also neglects to mention that cost of drug development is always expensive, it's just that antibiotics aren't profitable - they're used for short periods of time, usually as late as possible (after patents expire), and can't be made more expensive without restricting use even more than it already is.
