About the « empty throne » : i recommend reading « le meurtre du pasteur », a philosophical book from Benny Levy (not sure it’s translated). A critic of all the classic philosopher theory and text that wanted to provide a philosophy outside of god. Very technical, but it’s a good gate to philosophy (if you can find TV interviews of the guy, he was also quite fun to hear).
note: « benny » levy, not to be confused with « bernard-henri » who’s just a fraud.
