Comment on Ask HN: Given AI advancements, is a master’s degree in CS worthless?

Comments

Many on HN have been telling us that most software jobs do not require a CS education and, unfortunately, they're not really wrong about that. However, those jobs are the first that will be replaced with AI. Given that you have a CS education, you should be able to identify whether you're in jeopardy or not by how much of it you're using and you are also in a better position to leverage that education to move to another subfield of the software industry if you are. A MS in CS can help you with that.

As for fallback careers, I'd say go with plumbing. A trustworthy plumber will never go hungry.
