What do you mean by 'better'?
NewSQL claims to provide scalability advantages over traditional sql based systems. But I still prefere Postgres or MySQL over VoltDB or others, since there is plenty known solitions and documentation available. If you have large datasets with dynamic structures and less relations between collection items, you go NoSQL.
