Calling the book a “wake-up call,” Tyson spoke of the need to focus on objective scientific truths rather than excessively relying on personal truths. Although personal truths and pieces of wisdom can be beneficial, they have also led to violence, wars and other bad outcomes.  

That's ridiculously optimistic. Scientific truths have hardly ended wars. If they are less frequent than when we fought with stones, they are far larger and deadlier. Does Dr. Tyson think that the personal truths that emerged at the Esalen Institute were more dangerous than the scientific ones that emerged at the Los Alamos Lab?
