World trade will become irrelevant once we develop our own energy independence and desktop manufacturing. These two technological breakthroughs will render cultural and economic hegemonies irrelevant.

The next great economic triumph won't be the victory of any particular country or region. It will be the emergence of distributed and decentralized economic power.

That's how I'd like to see it go down, anyhow..
