Der Spiegel -- and Germany -- have been anti-American for decades. I know, I lived there in the mid-seventies. After East Germany was reintegrated it only got worse, as the East Germans had even more anti-American propoganda pumped into them than the West Germans. It's only going to get worse, as their economy has had almost no growth over the last 15 years due to heavy regulation. It's unemployment rate is 8%. Schadenfreude is right.
