Technical arg: People will just make/sell/buy fake accounts like urine to pss drug tests. Fake account generation is already abundant.
Psychological arg: Self-repression in society is already a cause of widespread alienation. How about bringing people into society and treating them well instead of subjecting them to chronic invalidation?
Political arg: Any party could use this to disempower other parties. Foreign actors, already shown to have powerful influence within our borders, can use this to disempower and weaken us.
Personally:
I'm center-left and don't see a chance in heck of prohibition solving our problems. It's all about giving us the leadership, examples, and space to live out our values. What politician do you actually respect? Chasing wealth has occluded all of our values. Financial and health insecurity has dominated our psychology leaving us emotionally stunting and living in fear. Our founders weren'y perfect but their goal of a free, safe spirit should be persued by a trusting, cooperative, respectful society, not by forming a hierarchy of wage slavery.
Dude, I'm a card-carrying member of the UK Labour Party. As far as America is concerned, I'm left of frigging Gandhi, and IMHO guns ought simply be banned - yep, straight up banned, I am one of the people coming for <insert appropriate pronoun> guns...
But, it's not my country, I don't even get to vote, and I don't intend to stay past the money being plentiful and the kid leaving for college. America's a great place to make a few bob, but it's not somewhere I want to retire to. So, knock yourselves out y'all, I don't really care.
