Thankfully the powers-that-be are able to distinguish what has been mainstream well-backed scientific thinking for the last 40+ years from the occasional extreme or incorrect prediction. Unfortunately despite having had those 40 years to gradually introduce incentives and legislation to gradually transition us to an economical model compatible with not crippling our own life support system, they've chosen to sit around and do as little as possible.
