Comment on Google now lets free GSuite users “opt out” of account shutdown

Comments

Dear google:

I run a family email domain from GSuite. Let me pay you for SOMETHING that's less than a full business account. I never expected the free ride to last 16 years.

A dollar or two per month would be nice. Enough to know what to expect, but not so much that I consider other severs.

Yea. I've got 11 users... you're looking at like $800/yr. We don't use any of the GSuite features other than email/docs which are all available for free.

I had 7 users using just email. I cancelled GSuite last month after being on the free tier for 15 years and not wanting to pay $6 a month per person. I went through the pain process of creating everyone in the family new Gmail accounts and using Google Takeout so I could transfer everyones email etc to their new accounts and then I set up Google Domains email forwarding to these accounts. I took me all day to setup separate device passwords for everyone.

Its was not a fun process
