It is a very different situation for USians than we’ve seen in a long time.

Ukraine is a real democracy (the people want it.). Contrast that to the usual authoritarian client state or the failed efforts to create a democracy that people didn’t want in Iraq or Afghanistan.

(It’s not to say that people in those countries might not want a democracy, but they don’t want the ones we made for them.)
