I know right? That's why I put together Inviteable, I think we could use something just as simple to accomplish the same thing, just without Facebook. My goal was to make it super quick to create an event & share a URL instantly.

Shame it requires a Google account to use the magic links login. Would love to try it out, but I'm google-free.
I plan to add more options soon, don't worry! I did this since it was a quick implementation.
