I find it odd that in a story about a name being flagged for copyright infringement (wrongly, obviously), they also chose to throw in the comments about 'tech bros in silicon valley', 'women in tech/of color (being discriminated against)' etc.. Which seemed off to me. I don't think these points had anything to do with her account being automatically flagged.
Documenting your digital presence across platforms is the only way to get back with enough proof, if in the future a billion dollar company decides to launch a product with similar names. I'm feverishly awaiting the outcome for the Meta company[ https://meta.company ] case against FB's Meta.
TL;DR — metaverse Instagram account was flagged for misrepresentation post FB rebranding, then reinstated once an actual human in support was reached.
Story is just like any other automatically-flagged acount story, except that it seems likely this only happened once "metaverse" was added to some internal special-case list.
To avoid this happening, don't use an external platform for your "life's work".
Sorry, it sounded as if they managed to do that in the regular way you've got to do that with FB/Google/...: they made the issue as public as possible before somebody reacted to that publicity.
Should have made that clear, even though I said that it was just like any other automated action by those actors :)
