On the Feature Requests page, the idea of improving the detection of duplicate submissions is mentioned (and funnily enough, many different times). In the last few weeks, it seems a lot of stories have been over-submitted like this one. It seems that fixing duplicates should have higher priority, for the sake of keeping discussions together and for the sake of keeping the front page cleaner.
