I think it has been pretty clear for a while that Youtube's recommendation algorithm has some pretty serious flaws.

The issue that Brit discusses is just an example of how content is manipulated in order to foster "engagement".

Youtube may fix this specific issue, but it will not stop the flood of spammy content recommended to users on a daily basis by a fundamentally flawed platform.
