Background: after sending the https://rt.live link to my father (a retired computer science professor with a background in mathematics), he recoded their estimation model in Julia and created a chart showing the estimated R value for South Africa (where we are from) over time. Since then, I've helped him extend this to work off the data that's being collected by https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/covid-19-open-data to provide R estimates for regions around the globe.
