One of the most useful things I've found with spotify is the fact that everyone I know has it — and I can link any song or album, or playlist that I just created and anyone can listen.
Yes, that would still be possible if they have the new, restricted version — but there's no guarantee that they will. By vastly reducing the number of free users, they have also reduced the value (for me) of having a premium account. Not sure if I'll keep paying for a premium account in 6 months...
